Emergency Lights

What is the main color of your bar/emergency lights?
What is your opinion on light color?

Ours are all blue with some white strobes but I remember when I first started they were red and blue. It seemed to me that you could see the red from farther away and more clearly during rainy or foggy weather.

Red and blue streethawk with clear center rotator. The blue actually pops better than the red, and the white outdoes both. But it's going to be trashed since I will be driving my new squad soon with the red and blue LED lightbar. I can't wait.

"Traditional" here would be blue only. Red and blue are not very common.

We mostly have red and blue LED lights, with a few older cars with rotators still around.

Red belongs on fire trucks in Virginia

Same here.

Cid ,it is my understanding that the blue lights came about mainly for city PDs so they wouldn't be confused with traffic lights. Those of us in small town USA may seem that hard to believe but ask any of our metro cops who patrol an area like Canal st,in N.O. or some of the main avenues in L.A. and I think they will agree.

Damm CB that old Street Hawk light bar is almost a relic, along with the rear dash laser deck lights I did not know they still put those in cars anymore Or did you take it out of your museum collection?

I voted for the wrong colour

Light bars in the UK are blue mainly. Most cars used by the emergency service are now being also fitted with rear reds and some have white strobes or spots in the front. (although only the police are technically legally allowed rear reds).

No vehicles in the UK can have forward facing reds or rear facing white lights.

Interestingly enough, that isn't a Streethawk, its a "Vista", multi-level lightbar introduced by Federal Signal in the late 90's. It is an easy mistake to make, especially for a rookie.

One day, who knows, I'll tell you why we used to have microphone clips mounted on the sides of our old TwinSonics...

The Dashlasers were taken out of mothballs (I had them stored in the attic) when I came back to public service after a well-deserved) 8-year break. I always loved the Dashlasers because of the durability and sheer visibility of the multi-flash pattern.

The LED traffic advisor is the newest addition to the car, included especially for motorists who need clearer instructions to move over when I'm on the side of the road.
