Make? Looks like the DPMS I bought from a fellow officer for the same price.

Nice looking weapon , Gopher. Let us know how it shoots.

Yep, DPMS. Someone on another forum asked if it has forward assist. Yes, it does. I'm not really sure if I'll ever use that feature, but I guess it's nice to have.

The forward bolt assist could probably be done away with for the models sold to the private sector. But I think folks wouldn't be happy with the design change. My dad was in the Air Force (1963-1966) as a military police officer. Or SP as the AF calls them or used to call them.
Anyhow the Air Force was the first branch to issue the M16 and dad got one when he was sent to Vietnam in 65. The first model had the three prong flash supressor and no forward bolt assist. They also came with no cleaning kits since the rifle didn't need to be cleaned. Yep that's what they were telling the guys. Hard to imagine.
Well just like the history books tell it soon became obvious that there were problems with the first production models. Then of course there was a change made to the propellent. Anyhow the bolt assist was necessary and added. Is it still? Perhaps the rifles used by soldiers under field/combat conditions.
Nice looking rifle.

You should be using that forward assist as part of your manual of arms, and you should hit it every time you drop the bolt.
It takes no time and is cheap insurance.
You may not ever "need" to use it until you get into a school where you fire a couple thousand rounds in two days - or you may jump out of the car with the rifle to find it has dirt or crap in it and the round didn't seat when you chambered.
Punching that thing with your thumb a couple times with your hand on the pistol grip just ain't a big deal in the scheme of things.
Nice looking gun, congrats!

I love DPMS. Our department is outfitted with them. No issues that I know of.

$500 is a steal.
Pat Rigers is no fan of DPMS. Neither is Ken Campbell.
But my A15 has been reliable and durable for thousands of rounds including hard shooting days.

That and you seem to shoot it pretty well...

Definitely worth the price. Go buy a CMT bolt, make sure the key is staked well, and shoot the piss out of it. Also, don't trust that scope very far. Get a BUIS for your new toy.

I've never understood why DPMS catches so much flak, I own a few, and my issued rifle is also a DPMS. I have intentionally abused that thing just to see what it could take, and I couldn't make it fail over the course of a one week Tac Ops in Rural Terrain school.
